U4GM Diablo 4 Why Goblin Routes Boost Gold and XP
If you're jumping into March of the Goblins with a half-decent build, don't treat it like a normal loot event. It pays off much better when you build a small routine around it. The big draw, of course, is the flood of gold, crafting mats, bags, and D4 items that come from pushing the right content instead of just chasing random goblins across the map. Most players will notice the difference once they stop wandering and start farming zones with a purpose.
Turn Helltides into a pressure cooker
Helltides are still one of the easiest places to keep the action moving. The trick is getting your Threat Level to climb fast, then letting the game throw more enemies at you. If your seasonal setup gives access to Tainted Shrines, grab it. While a shrine effect is active, kills inside a Helltide can push Threat progress much harder, which means more ambushes, more elites, and more chances at useful drops. It's not glamorous. You're basically moving from pack to pack, grabbing shrines when they show up, and refusing to stand still for long. Dense areas in Kehjistan tend to feel especially good for this because you can keep pulling monsters without wasting half the timer on travel.
Nightmare Dungeons are where the loop gets silly
Once you've got the Helltide side working, Nightmare Dungeons become the cleaner, repeatable part of the farm. The node people care about here is Greed is Good in the War Plans activity tree. With that unlocked, a Treasure Goblin killed inside a Nightmare Dungeon can open the way to the Goblins Retreat. That's the moment the run changes from decent to ridiculous. You get a packed reward room feel, with gold and gear piling up quickly if your build can clear without slowing down. Don't overthink the dungeon choice too much. Pick tiers you can burn through, not tiers that make every elite feel like a boss fight. Speed matters more than pride here.
Event ranks are easy to ignore, but they matter
A lot of players make the mistake of farming hard while forgetting to claim event rewards. Don't do that. March of the Goblins ranks add real value, especially when you reach rewards tied to the Baron's Gift. The Baron's Bag of Coin gives a nice chunk of gold straight away, but the better part is the event improvement that can raise your odds of seeing extra Treasure Bags from goblins. It's a small change on paper. Over a long session, though, those extra bags add up. Check your progress between runs, claim what you've earned, then get back into the loop before you lose your rhythm.
Keep the pace high and the rewards follow
The whole method works because it stacks density, goblin chances, and experience in one routine. Helltides feed you constant fights and Threat spikes. Nightmare Dungeons give you a shot at Goblins Retreat portals. Event ranks add more value to each goblin you catch. If your damage is strong and your movement feels smooth, Paragon levels can climb fast, well past the point where casual farming starts to feel slow. Players who want to round out weak slots with cheap D4 items can do that alongside the grind, but the real gains come from staying consistent and clearing content you can actually finish quickly.
