The Best Pipeline Past Cards for Impact Right Out of the Box

The “Pipeline Past” program in mlb 25 stubsMLB The Show 25 is a nod to some of the biggest names in baseball prospect history. These cards are designed to represent players before they became stars, and for many gamers, they’re proving to be some of the most versatile and exciting additions to Diamond Dynasty this season. While there are over a dozen new cards in the drop, only a few stand out for their immediate usability and value across game modes.

Let’s start with Walker Jenkins (OF). At first glance, he may not pop off the screen with his raw stats, but his swing mechanics and balanced attributes make him an incredible value card. He excels in lower- to mid-difficulty settings, but what surprises many users is how well his bat plays even in Hall of Fame and Legend difficulty. He’s been hitting well above .350 for many players online, and his range in the outfield and decent arm strength give him some defensive presence as well. For a Pipeline card, he’s arguably one of the best-rounded.

Next, Jordan Lawlar (SS) deserves praise. He has speed, solid defense, and just enough pop to make pitchers think twice. While his power numbers aren’t elite, his consistent contact and clutch traits make him extremely viable in ranked and event games. Lawlar also brings utility value — he can slide over to second or third if needed, giving you flexibility in your infield setup.

Christian Moore (2B) is another standout, especially for players looking to fill a void in the middle infield. His offensive ratings are deceptively good, with enough power to take advantage of mistake pitches, and his fielding animations are smoother than you’d expect for his tier. Many players are finding success with him in clutch situations, and he seems to hit above his attributes.

On the pitching side, Kumar Rocker might be the most polarizing. He’s got a deep pitch mix and solid velocity, but what sets him apart is his control. Rocker isn’t going to strike out 12 every outing, but he consistently keeps hitters off balance. In user hands, he’s very effective thanks to his pitch tunneling and release point, though he can get touched up if you leave pitches over the plate.

And don’t sleep on Dalton Rushing (C). He’s arguably the best free catcher available in the game right now. His bat is strong from the left side, and he calls a solid game behind the plate. Throw in decent blocking ratings, and you’ve got a backstop that can anchor your lineup on both sides of the ball.

Ultimately, the Pipeline Past drop is more than just nostalgia — it’s a genuinely useful set of cards that can compete. Whether you're looking for low-budget starters, clutch bench bats, or diamonds in the rough for your ranked squad, these players offer impact well beyond their ratings. They may not replace your endgame legends, but they’re more than capable of carrying your team through the grind.
